Happiness Daily

Well I am definitely not finding time or energy to do much writing lately.  I have been posting on Facebook during the “lulls”.  But I thought I might try something new and attempt to post something everyday that has brought me happiness.  Might be a long post, might be a short post, might just be a picture, but I hope to try to do this everyday.  If for no other reason than to share my happiness and be thankful for another happily wonderful day in this life!  So here I go……

Perfect! A motto we all should remember!! *Photo from “Single Mothers who have Children with Autism” a group on Facebook.

Today I have lots of things which are bringing me happiness…

our container garden

The girls and I have been working on building a garden, a container garden.  So far we have 31 containers filled with mostly veggies along with some flowers.  We’ve planted…so far…. tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce, peas, peppers, spinach, strawberries, oregano, parsley, cucumbers, and miscellaneous flowers including pansies, marigolds, and dianthus.  We’re collecting containers and hope to keep building our “garden” bigger and bigger.  The girls love digging in the dirt and they each have their own watering cans, shovels, hoes, and rakes.

Cece loves it but we are struggling with her impulse control.  She wants to pull the plants out and/or drown them.  LOL  but it’s a work in progress.  If nothing else we are having all kinds of fun gardening even if we don’t actually produce anything.  But so far all the transplants are looking well (except the tomatoes which are still kinda droopy but hopefully they’ll perk up).  It’s a joy to have something special like this to share with the girls and hopefully teach them about growing/gardening.

I am very proud of our little container garden and I might just be having more fun than the girls are.  I am very excited about the prospect of growing some veggies!

This afternoon Cece came home from dayhab, Glenna went down for a nap and Cece and I were relaxing on the couch.  Cece likes to wind down after dayhab, kind of like she wants to just relax and zone out from 4 hours of sensory overload.  So she was sitting with me on the couch watching Caillou.  After a little while she came over to me laid down and snuggled and started singing a song.  I didn’t recognize the song but I did understand some of the words, it was a song about  “Sharing Hugs”.  She just laid there and snuggled with me her face only inches from mine quietly, sweetly, singing me this song about hugs.

Cece doesn’t share a lot of spontaneous hugs, snuggles, kisses, etc.  So having her do this was pure heaven.  Snuggles, eye contact, words….utterly simple perfection….bringing me pure unadulterated HAPPINESS…..sigh…..
